Surviving

Always finding a way to survive a crisis does not mean we relish it or that it was what we were meant to do the rest of our lives.

The cost of always needing to be on guard is you can miss the beautiful parts of life that come to you soon after the storm and sometimes during it. If you’ve never been taught to let your guard down, or been afforded an environment that allows you to be vulnerable, this can be so difficult to consider. Exiting crisis is still the biggest priority.

After this, we should practice finding our safety, our happy places. Places that don’t make you relive the same traumas, the same broken patterns. But create new, healthier ones. The environments that allows us to be. It always seems inconceivable until it happens. But instead of waiting for another bad thing to happen, we can practice finding  and enjoying the peace when it comes.
